Fishkill Woman, 19, Charged With Drug Possession After Rollover

WAPPINGER, N.Y. – New York State Police from the Wappinger barracks arrested Lydia B. Vanpelt, 19, of Fishkill, Wednesday on charges of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a Class A misdemeanor, and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor.

Troopers were dispatched by Dutchess County 911 to a rollover auto collision at the intersection of Old Hopewell Road and Dean Avenue. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, Vanpelt, was found in possession heroin at the time of the crash, police said.

Vanpelt also was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation when it was discovered her driving privileges were suspended, police said.

Vanpelt was issued tickets directing her to appear Thursday, Dec. 3 in Wappinger Town Court.
